The theme of the week at the College for Officer Training is “Welcoming Others Through Community.” This Keepers Rewind video was shown at the last Assembly this past Monday as it gives us a glimpse of the Keepers of the Covenant in community during the past 22 months. Please keep these cadets in prayer as they finish their last quarter this week and prepare for their exciting Commissioning weekend ahead.

☝️As they prepare to be commissioned, we asked cadets from the Keepers of the Covenant Session to tell us what they love about The Salvation Army.

💬 Here's what Cadet Kevan Garrett said:

"I love The Salvation Army because when my family was struggling, they were there for us in every way they could. They didn’t just meet our needs, they gave us a place where we felt safe, supported and cared for. What started as a place of help quickly became a place of hope, a safe space for my family when we needed it most.

"But it didn’t stop there. I’ve been growing up in the corps since I was 7 years old, and it’s been a huge part of shaping who I am today. It became more than just a place we went; it became home, a community and a foundation for my life and faith. That’s something I’ll never forget."

💬 Here's what Cadet Robert Galbreath said:

"I love The Salvation Army because it feels like family. From the moment you walk in the doors, you’re welcomed and accepted. Growing up, I only knew about the thrift stores my mom took me to, but when I needed help, the Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) program welcomed me back four different times with the same love and compassion. What makes it special is the people and the opportunity to serve others, and I’m grateful for the place that never gave up on me."

☝️As they prepare to be commissioned, we asked cadets from the Keepers of the Covenant Session to tell us what they love about The Salvation Army.

💬 Here's what Cadet Stacy Fuqua said:

"I deeply admire the mission of The Salvation Army: to share the gospel of Jesus Christ while meeting human needs without discrimination. Although I grew up in The Salvation Army, it was not until adulthood that I fully understood the depth and beauty of that mission. The Salvation Army was the one place where I truly felt accepted and free to be myself.

"The officers and staff at the corps faithfully guided me toward Christ and demonstrated the meaning of genuine Christian fellowship. Through their love, service and compassion, they reflected the body of Christ and the heart of welcoming others into the kingdom of God. I honestly cannot imagine where I would be today without The Salvation Army and the profound impact it has had on my life."

☝️As they prepare to be commissioned, we asked cadets from the Keepers of the Covenant Session to tell us what they love about The Salvation Army.

💬 Here's what Cadet Christian Fuqua said:

"I love The Salvation Army because I grew up in it from the time I was born. Even though I had challenges as a kid, multiple officers loved me and continued to support me no matter the mistakes I made. What I love most is that wherever I go, there has always been someone in The Salvation Army ready to welcome me and support whatever I am doing. Whether it was friends, officers and members coming to my high school and college sports games, hosting me during college visits, or even letting us stay with them while visiting Disneyland, I have always experienced kindness, encouragement and a sense of family. The Salvation Army has never just been a church to me; it has been a community and family of people who genuinely care and have helped shape my life."

☝️As they prepare to be commissioned, we asked cadets from the Keepers of the Covenant Session to tell us what they love about The Salvation Army.

💬 Here's what Cadet Brent Ferguson said:

"I love the Salvation Army because God really uses it to show a bigger picture of what serving him looks like. After five years of working at the rescue mission and recovery, I thought that was where God had put me for the rest of my life. This was my calling until God brought me my wife, who opened my eyes to something greater. The Salvation Army reaches into the darkest corners of this world, and our corps are places where people at their worst moments can still walk through the doors and find themselves in a welcoming environment. The Salvation Army has opened its doors to me so that I can open doors for others."
