Peer Health Education Program Graduate Spotlight: Ke'Niyah Angelo!

Ke'Niyah has a signature positive and energetic aura and her absence will definitely be felt. She makes health education fun and always keeps it real! Her commitments to understanding all patient perspectives and improving health equity are inspiring. Here's a message from Ke'Niyah:

“Hey everyone, I’m Ke’Niyah! I’m currently earning my bachelor’s degree in kinesiology with a minor in CASAT. One of my favorite parts of being a peer health educator is creating meaningful health initiatives and events that address the real health concerns impacting our communities. This role has shown me just how important it is to continue growing and furthering your education. With that in mind, I plan to take a semester off to apply for graduate school abroad.”

Thank you so much for everything, Ke'Niyah! We are so proud of you and happy to have known you. Congratulations on graduating! 💙🐺

Peer Health Education Program Graduate Spotlight: CJ Waterman!

CJ has been an extremely active Peer Health Educator for several years now! Her energy is confident and empathetic and will be so missed. CJ always gives her maximum care and attention in every interaction she has with her peers and we have no doubt that she will be just as compassionate when she becomes a health care provider. Here's a message from CJ:

"Despite the continually changing college world, this volunteer program has been a constant. The relationships cultivated here come from a place of mutual passion and respect for public health and peer education. I am proud and grateful to be apart of such a meaningful experience both teaching and learning with our community."

Peer Health Education Program Graduate Spotlight: Suvra Rout!

Suvra has been a PHE since he was a freshman! He is well known among our PHEs and within our clinic for his thoughtfulness and intention in his actions. His calm, collected energy and passion for inclusive patient care will certainly be missed in our program. Here's a message from Suvra:

"The SHC has been a source of many memories since my freshman year and has solidified my decision to practice medicine. As I now graduate from UNR with a major in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and a minor in Entrepreneurship, I look back at the times where simple interactions had profound health outcomes and have influenced me to start a clinic for the underserved population. Although I'm now off to medical school, I will remember my roots at the SHC and the power of the simple interactions in healthcare!"

Thank you, Suvra, for all you have done for our program! We are excited to see you thrive in medical school and will miss you so much! Congratulations on graduating! 💙🐺

Peer Health Education Program Graduate Spotlight: Alexis Ele!

Alexis is the tabling master of the PHE program! She promotes health education and public health with confidence and authenticity and uplifts those around her to do the same. We will MISS HER SO BAD!! Here's a message from Alexis:

"Hello! My name is Alexis Ele. I am headed onto the Orvis School of Nursing and plan to graduate in December 2027 alongside a BA in psychology. My favorite part about being a Peer Health Educator was being able to connect and bond with the broader campus community on taking quality care of one's health. I truly believe that one of the greatest gifts I've received is my education, and I am so happy that I was able to advocate for campus initiatives that especially involved mental health. In the future, I passionately look forward to days when I get to sit down and hear the unique human stories we all share as a psychiatric nurse practitioner, providing both medication management and psychotherapy for individuals wanting to embark on the mental health journey that I once went through myself. Thank you to the peer health educator program for providing me with valuable skills for my future healthcare career!!"

Thank you Alexis for all you have done for the PHC program! We are so excited to hear how well you do in Nursing School. Congratulations on moving on to what's next! 💙🐺

Marlee has been a wonderful recent addition to the PHE team. Her energy is warm and empathetic, and she approaches everything with a genuine intent to understand. We have received so many compliments regarding facilitation of our Free STI Testing Clinic with a mention of Marlee's name. Her positive presence will definitely be missed! Here is a message from Marlee:

"My name is Marlee Comba and I’m graduating with my B.S. in Microbiology and Immunology and a minor in Nutrition! My favorite part of being a PHE was being able to give back to my college campus in a meaningful way while connecting with students that have similar interests and goals. After graduation, I’m planning to go to medical school and to continue to give back to my Northern Nevada community!"

Thank you for everything you have done for this program, Marlee! We are so excited to see how well you do in Medical School! Congratulations on graduating! 💙🐺
