💙🐺 Celebrating Wolf Pack pride and alumni excellence this Homecoming!

At last night's University of Nevada, Reno 2026 Distinguished Alumni and Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, we were proud to celebrate the accomplishments of our incredible Wolf Pack alumni!

Congratulations to School of Public Health alumni Jake Harris, CEO of Swift Institute and our 2026 Distinguished Alumnus of the Year, and Krysta Palmer, a 2026 Nevada Swimming & Diving Hall of Fame inductee!

We were also honored to have Dean Muge Akpinar-Elci welcome and recognize Linda Clift, Orvis School of Nursing - University of Nevada, Reno Distinguished Alumna, as part of this special celebration.

The evening's theme, "Every generation sets the stage for the next," was a powerful reminder of the lasting impact our alumni have on the communities they serve. Jake, Krysta and Linda demonstrate that through their accomplishments, leadership and the example they set for future generations.

Congratulations to all three on these well-deserved honors! Once a member of the Wolf Pack, always a member of the Wolf Pack! 🎉

We invite undergraduate and graduate students to get creative and answer an important question: What is public health, and why does it matter?

Whether it's a short video, original artwork, infographic, interactive display, spoken word piece or another creative project, we want to see your (non-powerpoint) perspective on public health and its impact on our communities.

Today, our School of Public Health team came together for a staff retreat focused on reflecting on our progress, strengthening connections and looking toward the future. 💙

Through thoughtful conversations and future casting, we explored how far we've come, the strengths we want to preserve and the opportunities to grow and evolve as a School.

Thank you to everyone who participated, shared their perspectives and helped make the day a meaningful opportunity to connect and plan for what's ahead!

We're so happy to welcome Luisa Lucero, Ph.D., to our School of Public Health family at the University of Nevada, Reno!

As our new executive director for administration and business operations, Luisa brings extensive experience in higher education, public health and health care operations, along with a genuine commitment to helping others succeed.

On Indigenous Peoples' Day, we honor the strength, resilience and living cultures of Indigenous peoples in Nevada and across the nation. 🤍

The University of Nevada, Reno stands on the traditional homelands of the Numu (Northern Paiute), Wašiw (Washoe), Newe (Western Shoshone) and Nuwu (Southern Paiute) peoples, whose connections to these lands continue today.

At the School of Public Health, we celebrate the contributions of Indigenous peoples and reaffirm our commitment to listening, learning and working together to advance health and well-being for all.
