We’re excited to spotlight one of our students, Hugo T. Schurr! 🎉

Originally from Lexington, Hugo earned a BSB in Marketing from University of Louisville before beginning a successful career with Dell Technologies. Over seven years, he gained valuable leadership and communication experience through multiple roles and promotions before deciding to pursue his Master of Accounting and Analytics at The University of Texas at Dallas.

What started as an elective in Professor Mauriello’s Internal Audit course quickly became a new passion. He was drawn to the profession’s emphasis on integrity, honesty, and objectivity, while also recognizing how his background in sales and relationship-building could translate into a successful career in internal audit.

Through UTD’s Internal Auditing Excellence Program, mentorship from Professor Mauriello and CAE Toni Stephens has helped strengthen his confidence and enthusiasm for the profession. He is excited to continue building his career and developing as a future leader in internal audit.

We are proud to recognize Hugo for his dedication, leadership, and willingness to embrace a new path. We look forward to seeing all he accomplishes in the future! 👏✨

We’re excited to highlight Anthony Mai as this month’s Student Spotlight!

Anthony brings a unique and inspiring journey to the accounting and IT audit profession. Beginning his collegiate career as a nursing student, he ultimately discovered his passion for business and transitioned into accounting with the goal of becoming a CPA.

Through hands-on experience as a Staff Accounting Intern, External Auditor Intern, and Technology Risk Consultant, Anthony has developed a strong foundation in both accounting and IT risk. His passion for IT Risk Consulting stems from a desire to help organizations operate efficiently while protecting their stakeholders, allowing him to make a meaningful impact beyond the business itself.

Anthony is also highly involved as President of Ascend UTD, a Programming Team Member for Ascend North Texas, and a volunteer at the Dallas IIA Super & Fraud Conference. In addition to his professional pursuits, he serves his community as a soccer coach, reflecting his commitment to leadership and service.

We are proud to recognize Anthony’s dedication, growth, and passion for making a difference, and we look forward to seeing his continued success in the IT audit profession. 👏

We’re excited to highlight Madhav Zaveri in this month’s Student Spotlight. 🎉

Madhav is currently pursuing his Master of Science in Accounting & Analytics at the University of Texas at Dallas and brings a strong international accounting background as a Chartered Accountant of India. With both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in commerce, his academic and professional journey has centered on accounting, auditing, and finance.

Alongside his academic work, Madhav has gained experience as an Internal Audit Intern, Finance Manager, and Senior Accountant, and is actively involved in the profession as a TXCPA Student Ambassador and volunteer at the Dallas IIA Super & Fraud Conference.
