🌟 Student Spotlight: Joshua Carter 🌟

Meet Joshua Carter, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and graduate student in UT Dallas's M.S. in Accounting and Analytics program! A Dallas native, Joshua earned his B.B.A. in Accounting from Texas A&M University-Commerce after his military service, where he served as an Aviation Ordnance Technician and earned an Honorable Discharge and the Good Conduct Medal.

When Joshua first joined our IIA/ISACA/ACFE Student Chapter, internal audit felt unfamiliar and even intimidating. Instead of walking away, he kept showing up, listening, and learning. Through coursework, conference volunteering, and CIA exam prep, it all started to click. Today, he's drawn to internal audit's focus on continuous improvement and hopes to become a trusted advisor who helps strengthen both people and organizations.

Joshua also serves as Treasurer of the UT Dallas Student Veterans Association and has interned with Fox, Byrd & Company, P.C. as a Tax & Audit Intern.

We're proud to spotlight UT Dallas alumnus Riaz Dharani, Senior Director of Performance Optimization at Vizient Inc.! After beginning his career as an entrepreneur, Riaz found his path through UT Dallas's IIAEP program, which sparked his transition into internal audit and shaped his analytical, structured approach to problem-solving.

Today, Riaz sits at the intersection of data, strategy, and ex*****on - using insights to help health systems operate more efficiently and reduce costs across communities. Looking ahead, he's excited about how AI is transforming the profession, freeing up space for more strategic thinking and innovation.

The Internal Audit Department (IAD) Technology and Analytics Internship Program serves multiple internship tracks within Internal Audit. Interns hired through this program may be placed into one of three specialized tracks based on demonstrated skills, interests, and business needs: Technology Audit Intern, Business, Dealer, Asset Management (BDAM) or Professional Practices Group (PPG) Data Analytics Intern.
