The Military Veteran Center at The University of Texas at Dallas welcomes our new Administrative Assistant Karen Harris to our team, she supports our student veterans and military - affiliated students.

A proud Air Force veteran, Karen dedicated 10 years of service, as an Aviation Resource Manager (OEF & CDO | 2010-2012) 552 Operations Support SQ ACC while stationed at Tinker AFB, OK. Following her military service, she continued her commitment to public service as the Administrator for the City of Memphis Mayor’s Office of Community Affairs for eight years. Karen holds a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership from Southern Nazarene University and a Master of Business Administration from Strayer University. In her free time, Karen enjoys nurturing her family; husband Chris and daughters Alana & Ava, working out, reading self-help books, and volunteering at her church.

August 7th is Purple Heart Day, a time to honor the brave men and women who were wounded or killed while serving in the U.S. military. These service members are awarded the Purple Heart in the name of the President, and this day is dedicated to remembering their sacrifice and thanking them for their service to our country.
