We officially welcomed the UT Dallas Executive MBA MBA Class of 2028 this weekend! 🎉

They hit the ground running and connected quickly. It’s amazing how quickly a group of strangers can become a community when they share a common goal and are intentional about building relationships.

We’re missing one classmate from this photo, but otherwise, here they are 👋

To our EMBA alumni, community, families, friends, and supporters: help us give the 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟖 a big welcome and congratulate them on this major milestone!

And to our first-year AND second-year students: LET’S GO! ☄️

Congratulations, Cherie Patel! 🏆

We’re proud to celebrate Cherie as a Springate Cup Award recipient for the UT Dallas Executive MBA Class of 2027.

Over the past year, Cherie has been a steady source of support, encouragement, and connection for her classmates. From keeping everyone organized to celebrating others’ successes and making every member of the cohort, including faculty and staff, feel included, she has consistently led with kindness, authenticity, and generosity.

The Springate Cup recognizes those who leave a lasting impact on their classmates, and Cherie is a wonderful example of that. While pursuing a rigorous Executive MBA means balancing demanding careers, family, and life, Cherie reminds us that it is the relationships we build along the way that make the journey so personally rewarding.

Congratulations on this well-deserved honor, Cherie! 👏

In our most recent class on Current Trends in Corporate Governance, Professor Ray Hemmig invited two highly experienced friends in professional accounting and audit, Alicia Howell and Jon Wolkenstein, into the classroom.
Alicia and Jon shared their insights and experiences and answered questions about the boards’ responsibilities for accounting and audit issues in public and private corporations. In addition to answering many questions from the highly engaged 2027 cohort.

They covered the impacts and regulatory oversights of the AICPA, the PCAOB, the SEC, and the FASB, as well as discussions of internal audit processes and companies' responsibilities for public and private shareholder disclosures.

A sincere thank you to Alicia and Jon for generously sharing their wealth of knowledge and experience with our UT Dallas Executive MBA students. We appreciate the time, perspective, and real-world insights you brought to the classroom!

Huge congratulations to Spain on winning the 2026 World Cup! 🇪🇸⚽️🏆 Our EMBA program was just there on our international study tour, so we’re feeling a little closer to this win than usual. We saw firsthand how deeply football is woven into the culture, from hearing about the sport’s impact on business to visiting the Real Madrid stadium. Now Spain is on top of the world. ¡Felicidades, España!

Yesterday, Richard Bowen came back to our Current Trends in Corporate Boards and Governance class to talk with our EMBA students about ethical leadership and what it can actually cost to speak up.

Richard is widely known as the Citigroup whistleblower. Before the 2008 financial crisis, he raised concerns about defective mortgages as Citigroup’s Business Chief Underwriter and later testified before the SEC and the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission.

One student shared that his son asked if a whistleblower was “just a tattletale.” Everyone laughed, but it raised a much bigger question: where is the line?

Richard’s story was a powerful reminder that corporate governance is about more than structures, boards, and regulations. It is about people, decisions, and courage when the stakes are high.

Thank you to Professor Ray Hemmig and Richard Bowen for another meaningful session with our students!

Last Friday, we welcomed UTD Executive MBA alumni from across 35 years of the program back to campus.

It was great to see alumni reconnecting with classmates, meeting graduates from other cohorts, and catching up with the program. We also heard a thought-provoking keynote from Oscar Chavarria, UTD EMBA ’13 alum and author of “The Resilience Engine.”

Thank you to everyone who joined us. It was a great reminder that the EMBA experience continues well beyond graduation. 💫
