Jasmin Ibarra-Waddell represented HSS at the Regionals at the Rotunda 2026 Student Research Showcase. Regionals at the Rotunda highlights student research from the Regional campuses specifically, and each campus had 8 student projects highlighted. Her research was focused on prevention of K-12 school shootings which was conducted as part of a senior capstone project in P470 Senior Seminar in Criminal Justice. She provided Indiana statistics and key policies for gun violence prevention including an anonymous reporting app, mental health support in schools, and legislative change. Her mentor was Dr. Carrie Mier, Associate Professor of Criminal Justice who helped her refine her work for this presentation. Jasmin is a fully online student and is set to graduate from the criminal justice program in May 2026.
