Detective Randall and K9 Roxy Visit VCU
On September 1, 2026, students in the Intro to Digital Forensics (FRSC 525) class experienced a live electronics detection demonstration led by Middlesex County Detective Brittany Randall and her partner, K9 Roxy.
Detective Randall brings seven years of law enforcement experience to her role, including five years with the Middlesex County Sheriff's Office. She primarily focuses on general investigations, sexual assault cases, and Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC). In May 2026, she expanded her duties by becoming the official handler for K9 Roxy.
As a specialized Electronic Storage Detection (ESD) canine, K9 Roxy is trained to uncover any electronic device capable of storing data, including items that only hold basic date and time stamps. The effective team has already executed six search warrants and four vehicle searches, successfully recovering 120 electronic devices.
The VCU Department of Forensic Science and the FRSC 525 class extends our sincere gratitude to Detective Randall and K9 Roxy for sharing their vital, real-world law enforcement work.
