Dear Friends and Family,
For the next three weeks, Kappa Alpha Theta will be raising money through Cards for CASA, a letter writing campaign, to support our national philanthropy, CASA!
CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates. This organization supports and promotes court-appointed volunteer advocacy so every abused or neglected child in the United States can be safe, have a permanent home and have the opportunity to thrive.
Our letter writing initiative, Cards for CASA, will raise money to provide…
1,000 = An advocate to speak up for a child over the course of a year
$500 = Pre-service training materials for 25 new volunteer advocates
$250 = 10 hours of courtroom advocacy for an abused child
$100 = A complete case file for a family
$50 = Cost of verifying qualifications of a volunteer
$25 = Parenting workbooks and brochures for caregivers
Last spring, our sorority raised $17,050.15, which was more than any other University of Richmond sorority has raised from an on-campus event. This year we are hoping to raise even more!
Working with CASA is something that Kappa Alpha Theta truly cares about. We believe that every child deserves to grow up in a safe and caring environment. One of our sister’s mom is a CASA volunteer so we know firsthand about the great work that they do.
