UR athletes and members of Greek life gathered last Sunday in the Robins Center to participate in a hazing prevention workshop conducted by the Love Like Adam Foundation. This organization was established in honor of Adam Oakes, a VCU student who died in 2019 due to a hazing incident. We were thrilled to have the opportunity for his family to share their powerful story with one-third of our student population (nearly 1000 students!) and engage in conversations around this important topic. Today, we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day, specifically on Dr. King's birthday, January 15. Dr. King dedicated his life to the pursuit of equality for all and repeatedly spoke about the importance of community. We remain indebted to him for his service, which is why this is the only federal holiday designated a National Day of Service. In the words of Dr. King, “We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly affects all indirectly.” However you choose to spend the day, be sure to care for yourself and others.

The incomparable performer and activist, Peppermint (she/her), a.k.a. "Everyone's Favorite Flavor", is coming to the University of Richmond for a special Trans Awareness Week event! This beloved icon is known for her powerful voice, captivating performances, and tireless advocacy work on behalf of the trans and non-binary community. She is the ACLU’s first-ever Artist Ambassador for Trans Justice and has raised six-figure sums for prominent LGBTQ+ rights groups.

Please join us for a fireside chat, moderated by local activist and leader, Dexter Davis (he/him), followed by a reception and Meet & Greet with the queen herself on Thursday, November 16th from 7 - 8:30 PM at the Queally Center's Breed Pavilion (142 UR Drive, Richmond).
