We are excited to announce the newly elected officers for the 2016-2017 academic year! Jamie Parkerson will be filling in for executive director/president, and Lindsay Kunik and Saloni Desai will both hold office as vice presidents. All 3 officers have been a part of FASK previously, and have been involved in many of our volunteer activities/events. Many thanks to Rachel Balow, a current medical student at MCV and former president, for creating an amazing organization at VCU dedicated to working with children at the ASK clinic. Thank you also to the officers for 2015-2016: president Esther Eom, vice president Lindsay Kunik, treasurer Kelsey Grimes, membership engagement committee members Paige Greene and Maddie Centanni, and out-of-clinic coordinators Kate Escobar and Naveen C. Kotha for all of your work! We are excited to see what the upcoming year has in store for FASK at VCU!

September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Many remain unaware that cancer is the number one disease killer of children under the age of 15, and that even survival comes with a lifetime of side effects and risks. ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation is highlighting some of their fantastic ASK Kourageous Kids this month and we hope you'll follow along!

Meet our friend, Katie!

September is . In honor of that we want to put the faces and stories of real ASK Kourageous Kids to the abstract term "childhood cancer" with our .

From mom Amanda:

This is Katie. She was diagnosed with T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on January 24th, 2015 at the age of six. Katie has taught me more about life in the last eight months than I have learned myself in 33 years on this earth. Katie is my hero every day. She makes it so easy to be strong and brave for her.
