Our incoming BSDP students hit the ground running with a scavenger hunt taking them all around Richmond and to both MCV and Monroe campuses during their orientation. They were given clues to places around the city and tasked with taking a picture of each location.

One of the highlights of Ph.D. orientation is our annual Meet the Mentors event.
 
Incoming students had the opportunity to meet faculty from across the VCU School of Medicine, learn about their research areas and explore potential laboratory rotation opportunities. During the first year of the Biomedical Sciences Doctoral Portal, students complete three lab rotations before selecting a dissertation lab, making events like this an important first step in finding the right research and mentorship fit.
 
With research opportunities spanning a wide range of disciplines, Meet the Mentors gives students a chance to see the diverse scientific community they’ll be joining and the faculty who will help guide their training.
