The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Eastern Kentucky University is dedicated to preparing highly qualified and ethical professionals to provide effective, evidence-based speech-language pathology and audiology services to persons of all ages and diverse backgrounds with communication and swallowing disorders. Established in 1969, the Communication Disorders program was one o

f the first programs in the Special Education Department at EKU. Graduates also have the opportunity to participate in the Interdisciplinary Autism Spectrum Disorder Certificate. The CD Program offers both an undergraduate B.S. and a graduate M.A. in Communication Disorders. The Master of Arts (MA) education program in Speech-Language Pathology at Eastern Kentucky University is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

EKU CSD, along with partners from the Department of Applied Human Sciences and School of Education, have been awarded a grant to expand access to assistive learning tools — helping create more inclusive learning opportunities for our students and clients. Thank you WHAS Crusade for Children!

Word Detective Reading Camp will be held from 9:00-11:00am on July 6-10th at EKU's Corbin campus. We have a few spots remaining! We are so proud of these amazing students who just wrapped up EKU CSD’s Speech, Language Intensive Summer Help (SPLISH) Camp! 🌊

Over 8 days, our dedicated students provided support to 50+ children, helping them grow their speech and language skills while creating meaningful connections and unforgettable experiences.

From therapy activities to teamwork and encouragement, this group made a lasting impact — and we couldn’t be more proud of their hard work, compassion, and commitment to serving others. 🗣️✨
