Great news from our program! VCU RW staff Pierre, Rob, Yolanda, and Ashley have been elected to serve on Virginia’s Community HIV Planning Group and currently at CHPG 2-day retreat. 🎉 CHPG is comprised of professionals and community members who meet regularly to provide input and recommendations to the Virginia Department of Health regarding HIV Care and Prevention services statewide. VCU also has two patients who currently serve on the board as well.

Shout out to them and this amazing opportunity! Our staff is always doing something great 👏😁

VCU RWP Harbor Support Group has reached its ONE YEAR anniversary in our program! Harbor (HIV and Recovery: Building Opportunities in Resilience) is one of our newest groups for individuals living with HIV seeking support in their recovery from addiction. Topics this year ranged from mental health, goal-setting, emergency preparedness including how/when to administer naloxone and more!

Congrats to one year of Harbor Support Group! We look forward to seeing how the group grows in its 2nd year!

Interested in participating? This group occurs weekly on Mondays in VCU West Hospital, 3rd Floor - East Wing conference room from 6pm - 8pm. Information on last slide. Dinner is provided at all meetings.

We had tons of fun at Grand Gamers today! Song options ranged from Sonny and Cher, to Michael Jackson, to Blondie and more! We sang a great selection of songs and had good time remembering some of our favorite classics.

This group occurs monthly on the 2nd Wednesday of each month for individuals 50+ living with HIV. Our next meeting is 11/11 at 11am. Come out and join us! 😁

Announcement 📢 Thrive Support Group will NOT meet this Tuesday, October 20th to allow members to attend a special memorial service and celebration for Carnell Adkins, a beloved community leader and advocate for individuals living with HIV in RVA. His advocacy work and fight for health equity in minority communities has left a huge impact on our community that will not be forgotten. We want to give space to honor, cherish and grieve his legacy.

🚨If you’re joining us at Thrive tomorrow, please be aware our location has changed temporarily. 🚨

Due to scheduling issues with our previous meeting room this month, we have a new location for group. Thrive Support Group will be held TOMORROW 10/13 from 6pm until 8pm in McGlothlin Medical Education Building, Room 3-101.

The remainder of October Thrive meetings will be held in this space (10/13, 10/20 and 10/27). Please be aware of this as we move forward throughout the month.

Check out some of our upcoming events including Harbor Support Group - a supportive space for individuals living with HIV looking for a recovery community/support in their recovery - that meets every Monday at 6pm in VCU West Hospital, 3rd Floor - East wing Conference room. 🍂

Don't forget - tomorrow Thrive Support Group meets and we'll also have Grand Gamers meeting for karaoke on Wednesday! Come out and see us 🍁
