🎶 VCUarts Music faculty and alumni recently took the stage with Opera in Williamsburg for the east coast premiere of Hector Armienta's Zorro!

The production celebrated both Hispanic Heritage Month and the U.S. 250th birthday.

Performing as Principal Clarinet, George Stoffan was joined by a number of familiar faces from the VCU Music community:

🎹 ✨ The Mary Anne Rennolds Chamber Concert series presents the Hermitage Piano Trio with violist Jordan Bak on Sunday, October 11th at 3 p.m. in the Singleton Center for the Performing Arts

Now entering their second decade, the United States-based Hermitage Piano Trio has solidified its place as one of the world’s leading piano trios, garnering multiple Grammy Award nominations and receiving both audience and press accolades for their performances that The Washington Post singled out for “such power and sweeping passion that it left you nearly out of breath.”

VCU Jazz invites you to join us for a celebration of Brazilian music! 🎶🎨

🎷 The performance features guest artists Bruno Alcalde, guitar, and Laura Ann Singh, vocals; with the VCU Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra, directed by Taylor Barnett; Jazz Sextet, directed by Trey Pollard; and Samba Bateria, directed by Justin Alexander.
The program will feature beloved classics such as “Triste” and “Brasil,” along with new compositions and arrangements by the performers.

“Watercolor of Brazil” will take place on Thursday, October 15 at 7:00 PM.

Tickets to this performance range between $7-15.

✨🐋 Every life is a journey. Some paths carry us across familiar landscapes, while others lead us toward places we have never imagined. Along the way, we encounter history, tradition, courage, beauty, and one another

🗺 🎶 The VCU Wind Ensemble and Henrico Concert Band invite you to share in this musical journey -- a journey across land, sea, and sky, and ultimately toward the places where our paths meet.

VCU Wind Ensemble will exlplore journeys of many kinds. We travel by railroad in Magnolia Star, venture across the sea in Of Sailors and Whales, encounter the sounds of another culture in Fantasy in French, and revisit musical traditions through the melodies of Percy Grainger and Gustav Holst. We remember the courage represented by Old Ironsides March and Flight of Valor, and finally look upward in Sure on this Shining Night.

At the heart of the program is Each Life Converges, a reminder that although our journeys may begin in different places and follow different paths, our lives inevitably intersect with those of others.

VCU Music is proud to present the VCU Symphony strings in concert on Friday, October 9th at 7:00pm in the Sonia Vlahcevic Concert Hall 🎻

🎵 The performance will feature works for string orchestra by Francesco Geminiani, William Grant Still and Dag Wirén. An intriguing mix of styles awaits the listener, from the Baroque era to the tender and sweet sounds of Mother and Child by W. Still Grant, one of the most consequential African American composers from the 20th Century.

🌟 The VCU Commonwealth Singers have been selected to perform at the 2026 VMEA - Virginia Music Educators Association Professional Development Conference, November 19 to 21, at the Greater Richmond Convention Center

The evening before the conference opens, join us for a FREE public concert featuring the Commonwealth Singers, Vox Concordia, the Choral Arts Society, and the Vocal Chamber Ensemble.
