Meet our next Jabs Student Spotlight: Luke Ferko, a first-year student majoring in Finance, Corporate Accounting.

Luke was drawn to the Jabs School of Business because of his interest in the analytical and risk-focused nature of finance, along with its real-world applications across industries. Even before becoming a full-time student, he experienced the encouragement and support of Jabs faculty which is something that continues to shape his academic journey today.

Luke is highly involved on campus, serving as President of the CBU Investment Club, Chief Investment Officer of the CBU Investment Group, and a Jabs School of Business High School Outreach/Recruiting Representative. Through these roles, he has developed both his leadership skills and technical knowledge in finance.

One of the most impactful aspects of his experience has been the opportunity to work with a student managed investment portfolio. Additionally, his involvement in the Investment Club has given him the chance to grow as both a learner and a leader.

Luke encourages current and future Jabs students to get involved and take full advantage of the opportunities around them: “Learn from upperclassmen, network with peers, and use the amazing resources we have within the school and from the support of the faculty.”

We’re proud of Luke’s accomplishments and look forward to seeing his continued growth and impact at Jabs!

Meet Jabs alumni Sarah Graham who graduated from CBU in 2021 with a Master’s Degree in Leadership & Business Management!

Sarah chose the Jabs School of Business because of its intentional approach to leadership development and its integration of business education with faith-based values. After completing her undergraduate degree at another Christian institution, she was drawn to CBU’s Southern Baptist educational environment and the opportunity to grow as a leader within that community.

During her time at Jabs, Sarah served on the Leadership Graduate Council and experienced the unique challenge of completing her program during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Despite the circumstances, one of the most impactful aspects of her experience was the strong sense of community within her cohort. Learning alongside peers who shared similar goals created a powerful environment of encouragement, collaboration, and shared growth.

Today, Sarah continues to carry that experience forward as she pursues her doctorate at Gateway Seminary, where she once again finds purpose and encouragement through cohort-based learning.

Her encouragement to current and future Jabs students is simple but powerful: “Whether your career ends up in a faith-based setting or not, the world needs Christian leaders who influence it for good. Leave your mark wherever you are called. Others have gone before us and others will come after, but this is our time. So, Live Your Purpose!”

We’re proud to celebrate Sarah as a Jabs graduate and the impact she continues to make through faith-driven leadership.

Meet our next Jabs Student Spotlight: Shay M. Luce, a doctoral student in the Organizational Change and Administration EdD program!

Shay’s journey to doctoral studies has been deeply personal. After struggling academically during her K–12 years, higher-level education once felt out of reach. However, after transitioning into higher education in 2022, she discovered her calling to serve students on university and school campuses. Through the Jabs EdD program, she is passionate about partnering with students as they discover and navigate their own academic journeys.

One of the most impactful experiences in her program has been RCH705: Research Design with Dr. Mizell! The course helped Shay overcome her initial intimidation surrounding qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods research.

Shay offers this advice to future Jabs students: take the time to research programs carefully and ensure they align with your academic and professional goals. Attend virtual sessions, connect with faculty and staff, and be willing to embrace intellectual challenges. As Shay shares, “ I believe passion, combined with strategy, knowledge, and collaboration, can create meaningful and lasting change.”

We’re proud to highlight students like Shay who are making the most of their time at the Jabs School of Busines and serving others through their skills and education!

Meet one of our Jabs School of Business Alumni, Brian Drummond!

Brian chose the Jabs School of Business because of its commitment to developing principled leaders who think strategically and lead with integrity. He was drawn to a well-rounded education that integrated ethical leadership, strategic thinking, and faith-based values, which is a foundation that aligned closely with his vocational goals.

Since graduating, Brian has applied his Jabs education across ministry leadership, nonprofit administration, higher education, and consulting. He views business not simply as profit-driven, but as a tool for stewardship, service, and organizational health. This perspective is one that continues to shape his career path and leadership approach.

His advice to current and future Jabs students:
“Lean fully into the opportunities Jabs provides, both academically and relationally. Take your classes seriously, ask thoughtful questions, and seek mentors. Most importantly, remember that business skills are not just about careers. They are about serving people well, leading with integrity, and making a meaningful impact wherever you are called.”

Brian exemplifies what it means to be a Jabs graduate, leading with integrity, purpose, and a commitment to serving others!
