Thank you to everyone who joined us at last week’s Galileo Institute workshop, EdCON: Leveraging AI to Lead Learning That Matters! 💻

The event included a keynote address from Oakland University alumnus Dr. Chris Stanley, senior education strategist at Barton Malow, who presented “The Ugly Middle: Breaking Open to Break Through.” During his presentation, Chris explored how educators can strategically use AI as a tool and thought partner in the classroom to enhance the student learning experience. 💡

Additional presentations from AI experts Nick Provenzano, Jennifer Lawson, Shana Ramin and Rebecca Horton highlighted programs such as SchoolAI, Canva, Brisk Teaching and Google Gemini, and how they can be used in the classroom.

Special thanks to our sponsors — Bosch Community Fund, Neola, French Architecture and Chief Financial Credit Union — for making this event possible. 💛 We look forward to seeing you all at our next workshop!

The Lowry Center for Early Childhood Education is partnering with Oakland Schools to implement a Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) classroom for the 2026–27 program year! 🖍️

GSRP is Michigan’s free pre-K program for eligible four-year-old children. The new classroom will expand access to high-quality early childhood education for families in the surrounding community while creating new hands-on learning opportunities for Oakland University students preparing for careers in early childhood education and related fields.

The GSRP classroom will serve up to 20 children during the upcoming school year, with before- and after-care options available. 🧸
