Join us today at 5pm! The Age of Rematriation: Healing SĂĄmi Heritage

The European museum landscape is changing. Dr. Eeva-Kristiina Nylander is leading the charge, shifting the focus from simple repatriation to the deeper process of rematriation. Through her 2023 doctoral research and collaborative work with contemporary artist Outi Pieski, Dr. Nylander is dismantling colonial attitudes to bring Sámi duodji (objects) home. By transforming difficult colonial histories into tools for reconciliation, Dr. Nylander’s work ensures that heritage is not just returned, but reborn. 🦌✨

Former HC fellow from Religion & Classics Michela Andreatta's book "Hell Arrayed", supported by a National Endowment for the Humanities grant in 2020, has been named a finalist for the prestigious Jordan Schnitzer Book Award in Jewish Literature and Linguistics by the Association for Jewish Studies (AJS). This recognition marks the second honor for the volume; last May, it received an honorable mention for Translation from the Mediterranean Seminar.
