VIDEO DESCRIPTION:
A man in a tan long sleeve sits in front of a dark blue wall and signs âHello! Do you remember when you first arrived at RIT, and the feel of uncertainty? That you werenât ready for college life quite yet? If you answered yes, go ahead and sign up to either become a LINK or a peer mentor. These ideas are similar but what they do are very different. The first one, LINK, is for students interested in becoming a mentor for new students who have just arrived on campus and are starting the interpreting program. As a mentor you will have a group of 3-5 students for the first 6 weeks of the semester. The other option is the peer mentor program. This is for current students who feel they need to develop their network and connections with interpreters, the Hard-of-Hearing, Deaf, and DeafBind community. You can sign up for either but please choose one or the other, not both. I already sent out a survey to garner interest. Once you have submitted your response, I will contact you all again with more detailed information about planning and what to expect moving forward. If you have any questions or want to know more, feel free to contact me. My contact information is here.â He points to the bottom of the screen and the email address [email protected] appears. He continues signing âI look forward to hearing from you soon. Bye bye!â
