Please read the story of our alumnus Shukura Irwin ('09), and all the glorious comments! She is a SPL in Phoenix AZ.
May is Better Speech and Hearing (and Swallowing) Month.
Speech-language pathologists (SLPs), like Shukura Irwin, here in Phoenix, work to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders.
SLPs play a vital role in our patients' path of healing in many ways, including, improving cognitive-communication skills that have been affected due to chemotherapy (often referred to as “chemo brain”), and improving speech production and voice quality following oral and/or throat surgery. Thank you for all you do, Shukura! #FacesofCTCA
