The Connections Social Action Social Justice Committee collaborated with The Rochester Regional Health to host a Black Maternal Health Symposium on April 13, 2026. The event was at the Little Theater. Dr. Twila Dillion was the keynote speaker. Dr. Lisa Harris was one of five panelists to share powerful resources birthing mothers and families.

On Saturday,  April 11, five members of Delta Nu Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® participated in the 3rd Annual Black Maternal Health Walk-a-thon held at the Greece Ridge Mall. Asia Brown, Marshae Puryear, Yunoka Fair, Kamille Bollar and Karen Barkley averaged over 2,500 steps supporting advocacy and awareness of the Black Maternal Health crisis.

What A Wednesday! The rain did not stop those pretty girls of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Delta Nu Omega Chapter, from hosting a day of learning and fun at the Young Womens College Prep Charter School (YWCP)

Immediately following was the kickoff to the Prom Boutique 🩷💚

Girls were able to pick a prom dress, shoes, jewelry and a purse, free of charge! As a added bonus one lucky young lady won a free prom makeup session.

Her journey reminds us that representation matters and that perseverance, education, and service can open doors for future generations.

During Black History Month, we celebrate leaders who continue to shape history.  Althea Gibson was a trailblazing athlete who broke racial barriers in professional tennis. In 1957, she became the first Black player to win a Wimbledon singles title, opening doors for future generations of athletes.
