University of Rochester Department of English The Department of English at the University of Rochester is devoted to the critical study of literature

We offer courses in all periods and genres of English, American, and Anglophone literatureโ€”poetry, fiction, non-fiction, and dramaโ€”as well as a wide array of classes in creative writing, film, media studies, journalism, rhetoric, and theater. The department joins critics, scholars, and artists in an environment that fosters interactive learning and teaching, with extensive opportunities to pursue internships and independent research.

Congratulations to all our students who submitted films for the 20th annual Gollin Film Festival! ๐ŸŽฌโœจ

It was an incredible to honor the tireless creative work of our students on the big screen at Wegmans Auditorium this week. The range of workโ€”from bold experimental pieces to rigorous, moving documentariesโ€”is a testament to the vibrant creative culture we are building within the UR Film & Media Studies program at the University of Rochester.

A deep thank you to our esteemed judges, Stephen Schottenfeld and Evelyne Leblanc-Roberge, for their insight and dedication to evaluating such a diverse and competitive pool of talent, and to Pirooz Kalayeh, master of ceremonies.

We will be screening this year's student films, and handing out awards for the top entries. There will also be a catered reception to follow.
