As we commemorate Juneteenth, we honor the enduring spirit of freedom, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of justice. Juneteenth marks June 19, 1865—the day when the last enslaved African Americans in Texas learned of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. It is a powerful reminder that freedom must not only be declared but also protected, exercised, and advanced.

As members of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., and as engaged citizens, we recognize that civic participation is one of the most powerful ways to honor the legacy of Juneteenth.
