Winthrop University Department of Interdisciplinary Studies The Department of Interdisciplinary Studies provides an academic home for existing interdisciplinary degree programs and minors within the College of Arts

The Department of Interdisciplinary Studies serves as a home for many of the interdisciplinary majors and minors within the College of Arts and Sciences. In addition, we seek to both reflect and extend the larger mission of the University as articulated in its Vision of Distinction and in the Statement of the Nature and Character of the University. The department is committed to excellence in teac

hing, research, and service, broadly defined. We encourage collaborations between our faculty, students, and the greater global community. The department offers degree programs that include:

-Master of Liberal Arts
-Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies
-Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences
-Bachelor of Arts in Individualized Studies (approved for Fall 2014)

The department also offers thirteen minors including:

-Sustainability

Winthrop University has received a grant to write African American history units for 5th grade classes in South Carolina. Please share this with any SC 5th grade teachers you know. Teachers will earn a stipend of $240 and will receive instructional resources for teaching African American history as well as professional development in African American history and inquiry planning.
