The Associated Students of Sierra College

The Associated Students of Sierra College The Associated Students of Sierra College (ASSC) is governed by the Student Senate, which meets on Thursdays 2pm to 4pm during the academic year.

The Student Senate meets every Thursday in the Governing Board Room (LRC 133) FROM 2:00-4:00 pm on the Rocklin Campus. The Student Senate shall dedicate itself, above all, to the service of the students it represents. To this end, the Student Senate shall:
Strive to be a unified voice for a diverse student body, while taking into consideration the unique needs of individual students. Promote stude

nt's rights and provide an unbiased forum for voicing student concerns. Participate in decisions that affect students, especially through shared governance. Responsibly manage ASSC resources, while at the same time striving to provide students with optimum benefits. Organize, promote and sponsor student activities and clubs. Promote understanding and cooperation between students, faculty, staff, and administration at Sierra College in order to help students achieve their educational goals.

Club Highlight: The Sierra College .college Physics and Engineering Club earned first place 🥇 at the California 2026 Solar ☀️ Regatta 🚤, sponsored by SMUD

Working in teams, students designed, built, and raced solar-powered boats 🚤, demonstrating both technical skill and innovation. Teams were evaluated on speed, distance, maneuverability, engineering presentation, slalom performance, and more.

Competing against 9 colleges and universities, Sierra College stood out, taking home the championship cup 🏆 along with a $3,000 prize.

The Associated Students of Sierra College participated in the SSCCC March in March and Advocacy Day on March 12, 2026. Student leaders met with California Senator Roger Niello, Assemblymember Heather Hadwick, and Assemblymember Joe Patterson to advocate on behalf of Sierra College and CCC students.

Discussions focused on SSCCC legislative priorities, including advancing equity, strengthening support for students’ basic needs, and expanding academic access and success across California’s community colleges.
