Sierra College is proud to partner on a major workforce development effort that will help grow the Sacramento region’s biomanufacturing industry and create pathways to good-paying careers.

Today, Governor Gavin Newsom announced $7.3 million in California Jobs First funding for the region’s biomanufacturing strategy, including nearly $1.4 million for the Sierra College-led CAPBIO Workforce Development Project. Working with Los Rios Community College District, Capitol Impact and Valley Vision, Sierra College will build on our nationally recognized Mechatronics program to expand technician training, industry credentials and paid internship opportunities aligned with what employers need. This investment will help prepare local students for growing careers while strengthening our region’s ability to attract and grow biomanufacturing companies.

Thank you to Governor Gavin Newsom and our regional and state partners for investing in our students, workforce and region.
