🎃 Accessibility meets innovation! 🎃

This Halloween, students from the College of Information at College Park and Shady Grove campuses came together for the annual Maryland Initiative for Digital Accessibility (MIDA) Accessibility Design Challenge! 🛠️✨ In teams, they designed amazing tools to support their peers, from accessible bridges to a smart classroom chair and even an automated mobility suit!

Dressed in their Halloween best, our talented students showed that creativity and inclusion go hand-in-hand. 👻💡 Together, they're building a more accessible future!

This week, let’s prioritize our mental well-being and recognize the importance of mental health, especially when balancing coursework, deadlines, and personal life.

Coping Strategies for Stress & Pressure:

1. 🧘‍♀️ Mindfulness & Deep Breathing: Take a few minutes each day to pause, breathe deeply, and focus on the present moment.

2. 📅 Time Management: Create a realistic study schedule that includes breaks. Break down larger tasks into smaller, manageable ones.

3. 🚶‍♂️ Stay Active: Physical activity, even a short walk around campus, can help clear your mind and boost your energy.

4. 📖 Practice Self-Compassion: Be kind to yourself. It’s okay to take breaks and ask for help when you need it!

🌟 Last week, we hosted an inspiring Senior Panel Discussion where our amazing students shared their summer 2024 internship journeys at top organizations like Amazon, IBM, the State Department, and the Office of the Secretary of Veterans Affairs! 🇺🇸💻

Our seniors spoke about where they searched for internships, their experiences with the application and interview processes, and what their day-to-day looked like at their internships. They also highlighted the valuable on-campus resources and activities they’ve engaged in during their time in the program.

We are so proud of their accomplishments and can’t wait to see what they achieve next!
