Sonoma State Road Bike Club

Sonoma State Road Bike Club Welcome to the official page of the Sonoma State University Road Bike Club! We enjoy riding the expansive and scenic Sonoma County roads on two wheels.

We are composed of road cyclists of all experience levels but have one thing in common. Safety is always of the utmost importance. Thus, to participate in the rides, there are a few requirements, all of which are outlined in the general information section below.

Hey everyone! Let’s get Sonoma State rolling! I know a bunch of you ride, bring it back. Start a cycling team or club. I know a Sonoma State employee who will sponsor the club, just do it!

We did it! Our Constitution was approved, and we are now an officially chartered club. Get ready for some rides, but for now, get off Facebook and study for finals next week!

We are on our way to being official (again)! Chuck Hutcheson and Erik Zaro have volunteered to be president and treasurer. The Anthropological Studies Center's Michael Stoyka has agreed to be our adviser, and our Constitution and Bylaws have been submitted for approval! If you are an SSU student and would like to be part of the club, find us on SSU's orgsync.

OrgSync is a web-based platform and community management system that centralizes student involvement and streamlines campus and organization communication.

All, if you are a current student and are interested (you are!) in joining the Sonoma State Road Bike Club, email me (Chuck) at [email protected]. We have had several students express interest, female and male, so this should be pretty cool! We have awesome roads to ride near campus, so join the club and enjoy one of the most wonderful things Sonoma State has to offer - some of the most scenic and beautiful areas in the country. Thanks!

Weather permitting, I'm looking to plan a ride out to the coast on Sunday. Sunday seems to have the most promising weather forecast. The half-way point will likely be the town of Marshall, population 400. Comment if you're interested in joining!

Come join us Friday, January 31 at 2:00pm for a ride, weather permitting. It'll be a pretty mellow ride, nothing too crazy. We'll meet at the SSU flagpole. *Helmets are mandatory

Concerned about the bike portion of your upcoming triathlon? Come out this Friday, January 17 at 2:00pm to the SSU pool. I'll show you the ins and outs of safe biking, drafting techniques, etc. *Helmets are mandatory. I think this fast 15 mile loop with minimal stops would be great practice for the real deal.

ROHNERT PARK: You've got a brand new green bike lane on the Expressway 101 overcrossing! The paint is barely dry on this project but we're already seeing a safer environment for people riding bikes on this bridge.

Painting bike lanes green is a relatively quick, cheap, and easy way for our cities to make riding a bike safer. Way to go Rohnert Park!

I didn't know what to expect after seeing the title "Invisible Bicycle Helmet" but surely didn't leave disappointed.
