We came together as only WGS does—founding faculty like JJ Wilson and Ann Neel (from the 1970s), alumni from 2000-2025, and our last class of 2026. Rage, sadness, & joy in equal measure. As we began, is as we go out—bright like a comet. Naming all who came before us, acknowledging our present, and knowing our alumni continue to shine and represent WGS on into the future.

Check out this powerful interview in Slate magazine, featuring our former SSU WGS Professor, Don Romesburg—on the wide-ranging impacts on cuts to women and gender studies departments (like at SSU), anti-LGBTQ+, and anti-DEI initiatives across the country.
