From Sonoma State to Oxford! 🌍💙

Through the Oxford Consortium for Human Rights, SSU students are connecting with peers and experts from around the world to explore human rights challenges, from immigration and community action to global conflict and climate emergencies.

But the experience goes beyond the classroom. Students are finding their voices, building confidence, and discovering how they can make a difference in their communities and beyond.

As Dean Troi Carleton shared:

“Students don’t walk away as different people. They walk away having discovered what was already there.”

The Main Quad came alive with music, food trucks and vendors, lawn games, activities for kids, and performances from the SSU Cheer & Stunt team and Sapphires.

Big news for Sonoma State! 💙🐺

Faculty from the SSU College of Education, Counseling, and Ethnic Studies have been awarded a $5.45 million U.S. Department of Education grant to help strengthen the teacher pipeline in rural Lake and Mendocino counties.

The new ROOTS initiative will support future educators through teacher residencies, mentoring, financial support and more.

Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to celebrate the histories, cultures and contributions that continue to shape our community at Sonoma State. 💙

At SSU, our diversity is part of who we are. Latinx/Hispanic students make up 43% of our student community, and we’re proud to recognize and celebrate the students, cultures and experiences represented across our campus.
