Concrete crash barriers recently completed a 350-mile journey from Manhattan, Kansas, to Missouri S&T in Rolla, where they are undergoing full-scale crash testing using the university's impact simulator.

In collaboration with Dr. Hayder A. Rasheed at Kansas State University, Dr. Mohamed ElGawady and his research team are evaluating practical retrofit solutions aimed at improving the safety and performance of existing substandard roadway barriers.

A well-deserved recognition for a Miner alumnus who has spent more than three decades changing how the world thinks about solving the world water crisis.

Water.org co-founder and CEO, Gary White, is being honored with the 2025 Hoover Medal, one of engineering’s highest humanitarian honors at World Water Week in Stockholm.

Gary’s vision that was initiated at Missouri S&T (UMR) has pioneered new approaches to financing water and sanitation, contributing to more than 92 million people gaining access to safe water or sanitation through Water.org’s solutions.

Congratulations! 👏👏

👏 A quick shoutout and congratulations to our CEC Dean’s Undergraduate Research Scholars who completed their second semester in the program this spring! 🔬

Their projects focused on recovering gadolinium from MRI contrast waste, materials for hypersonic aircraft, PFAS remediation, a 3D-printed airfoil that can switch between wing and propeller shapes for drones, and imaging technology for inspecting nuclear fuel casks. ✈️⚛️

Well done, Quinten Bachman, Parker Barnes, Christopher Beck, Christy Johnson and Hossein Libre!
