💼 Summer Internship Spotlight 💼

Meet Seth Nanna, a senior Business Administration major who spent his summer gaining hands-on experience with WestPoint Financial Group in Indianapolis!

As a financial advisor, Seth worked with clients to develop personalized financial plans, helping them make informed decisions that support their long-term goals. Along the way, he strengthened his skills in relationship building, strategic planning, and client-focused service.

One of the most meaningful parts of his internship was being able to take what he learned and use it to help family and friends better understand their financial options.

His biggest takeaway?

Clear and confident communication makes all the difference. Whether in meetings or conversations with clients, Seth learned that building trust starts with strong communication and genuine relationships.

🎓✨ Alumni Spotlight: Swathi Muddangula

A single setback doesn't define your future—it can shape it.

As the first person in her family to travel to the United States to pursue a master's degree, Swathi Muddangula's journey began with determination, resilience, and the courage to try again after her first student visa application was denied. Today, she's a Business Analyst at Ascension, where she combines business, data, and technology to solve meaningful problems.

During her time at Lewis, Swathi developed the confidence to communicate complex ideas, collaborated on research that led to her first published paper, and discovered the power of mentorship and lifelong learning.

Her advice to current students:
"Do not allow one rejection or setback to define your future. Stay curious, ask questions, build relationships, and keep moving forward."

Congratulations to Anna Topor, a May 2026 graduate of the Lewis University College of Business, on being named an Illinois CPA Society Accounting Scholarship recipient! 🎉 Anna was one of just 61 accounting students across Illinois selected for this prestigious honor, recognizing her academic achievement and commitment to the accounting profession.

For Anna, this recognition represents far more than academic success.

"Receiving the Illinois CPA Society Scholarship means a lot to me because it recognizes the hard work that I put into my education. Returning to college while raising two children was very challenging, but I didn't give up and kept working toward my goals. This recognition reminds me that all the effort was worth it. I'm strongly motivated to keep working toward becoming a CPA and building a career in accounting."

Anna's perseverance, resilience, and determination embody the spirit of the Lewis University College of Business. We are incredibly proud of her accomplishments and look forward to following her journey as she pursues her CPA and a successful career in accounting.

📈 Summer Internship Spotlight 📈

Meet Leo Gartlan, who is spending his summer as a Wealth Management Intern at Calamos Wealth Management in Chicago!

This summer, Leo has been working on projects that make a real impact—from redesigning the firm's new-hire onboarding process and analyzing client engagement data to supporting the implementation of a new client compliance framework.

One of his favorite experiences has been attending Calamos' Mid-Year Sales Meeting, where he connected with employees from across the country, learned about market trends, business strategy, and AI in the financial industry, and experienced the company's collaborative culture firsthand.

Leo has also strengthened his technical skills by using Microsoft Office applications every day while contributing to meaningful business projects that support the firm's operations.

He says the Lewis University College of Business prepared him through supportive professors, hands-on learning, and opportunities to explore today's most relevant business topics. His biggest advice to fellow students?

Stay curious, keep learning, network whenever you can, and start applying for internships early. Every opportunity to learn brings you one step closer to your career goals.

The Lewis University College of Business is excited to celebrate Sports Management alumnus Alec Jovanovic ('24) on his newest role with the Chicago Bears as a member of the Gameday Marketing – Fan Services team! 🏈

After graduating from Lewis with a bachelor's degree in Sports Management and a minor in Marketing, Alec has continued building his career in professional sports while also serving as a Gameday Captain with the Chicago White Sox.

For Alec, the best part of the job is helping create unforgettable moments for fans—and one lesson from Lewis has stayed with him every step of the way:

💼 Summer Internship Spotlight 💼

Meet Luke Pekol, who is spending his summer as a Finance Intern at G&W Electric Co.!

This summer, Luke has been supporting the company's finance team through accounts receivable and payable processes, financial reporting, and projects that help improve business decision-making. Along the way, he's gained valuable experience seeing how finance plays an important role in the success of a global organization.

One of Luke's favorite parts of the internship has been putting classroom knowledge into practice while collaborating with professionals across different departments. Working together to solve real business challenges has helped him grow both personally and professionally.

His biggest takeaway?
Communication and teamwork are key. Building strong relationships, maintaining open communication, and learning from others have shown Luke just how important collaboration is in the workplace.

Luke says the Lewis University College of Business prepared him for this opportunity by providing a strong foundation in finance and accounting while helping him develop the analytical and problem-solving skills needed to succeed.
