Filipino American History Month🇵🇭🇺🇸 is celebrated every October to honor the history, culture, and contributions of Filipino Americans in the United States.
The month commemorates October 1587, when the first recorded Filipino landed in Morro Bay, California.

>The Filipino American National Historical Society proposed the month in 1991, and the U.S. Congress officially recognized it in 2009
>Filipino Americans make up the second-largest Asian American group in the United States
>Long before the 1900s, Filipino communities settles in places like Louisiana in the 1700s and worked in early sh*****ng industries
>Filipinos who settled in Louisiana were “Manilamen” — sailors who jumped Spanish galleons and settled in Louisiana as early as 1763 after escaping forced labor and enslavement during the Spanish galleon trade.
