Lewis University College of Education and Social Sciences

Lewis University College of Education and Social Sciences A Catholic and Lasallian University where the traditions of liberal learning and preparation for professional life are combined.

Students and faculty – united by a common vision and shared dedication - work together to transform the classroom, our school systems and the communities around us. In the spirit of Saint John Baptist de La Salle, founder of the Christian Brothers and the Patron Saint of Educators, we believe in educating both the mind and spirit. De La Salle was known for his innovative teaching methods and creat

ion of schools that focused on students’ needs and teaching approaches that worked best. His commitment to social justice was born out of a devotion to provide a practical education for all, so that every person can make a difference in society. Our faculty are committed to De La Salle’s purpose and vocation, in creating graduates who are critical thinkers and passionate about social justice. You will learn with your peers in classrooms and in field-based experiences. You will be exposed to a variety of cultures and communities. Lewis has a strong reputation of working with school districts and law enforcement in the greater Chicago region. The College of Education and Social Sciences prepares students for careers in education, law enforcement and public safety, political science, sociology, psychology and social work.

🚨 URGENT DEADLINE 🚨

2026-27 MAP Award Announcements Suspended for all Applications Received AFTER April 23, 2026.
The Illinois Student Assistance Commission is suspending the announcement of 2026-27 Monetary Award Program (MAP) grants for applicants whose initial 2026-27 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) is received by the FAFSA Processing System (FPS) or whose initial Alternative Application for Illinois Financial Aid (Alternative Application) is received by ISAC after Thursday, April 23, 2026. Suspense means that MAP-eligible students who complete an application after April 23, 2026 will be put on a waiting list for MAP funding, and if ISAC determines that additional grants could be offered, they would be announced based on the order in which the applications were received. Students have through April 23, 2026 to submit their 2026-27 applications before being put on the waiting list for MAP.
