What a way to open the new UCC Track & Field Complex! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

We couldn’t have asked for a more spectacular day as our community came together Saturday to celebrate this exciting new chapter for UCC. The new track was already in action, welcoming high school cross-country athletes from across Oregon to compete in the Riverhawk 5K, along with runners, families, alumni and friends from throughout our community.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, cheered on the athletes and helped make the grand opening such a memorable celebration. We loved seeing this new facility filled with people and doing exactly what it was built to do — bring our community together.

From uncertainty to opportunity. Joseph Ridgway's journey shows the powerful impact of education, perseverance and community support.

After a work-related injury ended his career, Joseph Ridgway found himself facing an uncertain future as a father of five and provider for his family. Rather than give up, he turned to Umpqua Community College to create a new path forward.

Through scholarships and support from UCC, Joseph is pursuing his Business degree and working toward his goal of building successful businesses that strengthen and give back to his community.

Reflecting on his journey, Joseph says, “the challenge clarified my path forward”.
His story is a reminder that sometimes, the greatest challenges can open the door to a new opportunity.

📝 Only two weeks until UCC Foundation scholarships end on August 31st. Make sure to complete all the steps!

UCC scholarships not only help students financially; they also create opportunities to focus on community service and academic studies. Craig Wilson shares how receiving a scholarship strengthens his ability to help his community.

Craig is a veteran studying psychology with a goal of earning his master’s degree in occupational therapy. He aspires to work in the vocational rehabilitation field to help other veterans and those with disabilities.

He works with the Umpqua Valley disAbilities Network as a benefits coordinator and is the president of UCC’s Veterans Club. Through these positions he helps support veterans and the community through advocacy, guidance, and events breaking down any barriers they might face.

Community is a large factor in our scholarships, whether it is helping your family or peers, and we are happy that we can support these efforts. We thank Craig for his service and congratulate him on his accomplishments. Remember to submit your scholarship application by August 31st!
