University of the West is proud to celebrate the recent achievements of Dr. Jane Iwamura, Professor of Religious Studies, who continues to represent UWest excellence on the national stage.
National Pedagogy Workshop: From June 1–5, Dr. Iwamura participated in the prestigious, invitation-only Wabash Center 2026 Teaching and Learning Workshop for Faculty of Asian Descent in Crawfordsville, Indiana. She joined an elite cohort of thirteen scholars from across the country to collaborate on advanced pedagogy, professional development, and the future of theological studies.
Inaugural Research Grant: In addition, Dr. Iwamura, alongside co-creators Dr. Carolyn Chen (UC Berkeley) and Chenxing Han, has been awarded an Inaugural Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation Public Impact Grant in Buddhist Studies (ACLS). The grant will fund their upcoming project, “We the Sangha: A Podcast Series on Buddhist Asian America.”
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Iwamura on these incredible milestones, which highlight UWest’s commitment to impactful, public-facing scholarship and academic innovation!
