Congratulations to Dr. Weinan Zhou and colleagues on the publication of their latest research in Cellular and Molecular Gastroenterology and Hepatology!
Their study, “Constitutive Androstane Receptor (CAR) regulates bile acid homeostasis and metabolism during liver regeneration,” sheds new light on how the liver manages the complex metabolic demands of rebuilding itself after tissue loss. The research reveals an unexpected role for the CAR: rather than simply driving liver cell proliferation, CAR helps regulate bile acid levels and metabolic balance during regeneration. These findings could help inform future strategies to improve outcomes for patients undergoing liver resection or transplantation.

We're proud to celebrate the publication of a new paper by Dr. Terri Maness and collaborators in Estuaries and Coasts! Using coastal bird conservation as a case study, the team demonstrates a collaborative approach for identifying the research questions most likely to improve conservation and management decisions.

This work highlights the importance of partnerships among researchers, resource managers, and practitioners to ensure that scientific research directly informs conservation action and maximizes the impact of limited resources.

🎉 Congratulations to our newest Medical Advancement Program participants, Ilea Watson and Bridget Adeola!

After graduating as pre-med students, these two outstanding scholars have chosen to spend their gap year gaining invaluable hands-on clinical experience before medical school. We are proud to share that they were both accepted into Ochsner's Medical Advancement Program, where they have officially begun working as medical assistants. This opportunity will allow them to strengthen their clinical skills, serve patients, and learn alongside experienced healthcare professionals—all while preparing for the next step in their journey to becoming physicians.

We couldn't be more excited to watch them grow during this incredible year. Congratulations, and best of luck as you continue making a difference in healthcare!
