Associate Clinical Professor Dr. Michelle Williams was recently elected by the Fellows of the American Academy of Nursing to serve on the Academy's Fellow Selection Committee—one of nursing's significant professional honors. Academy Fellows are recognized for their sustained contributions to and health, with impact on health care, policy, education, research, and communities nationally and globally.

University of the Pacific is back with its annual Safe Trick-or-Treat event, a cross-campus celebration featuring student organizations and university departments that set up a network of themed trick-or-treat stops. Pacific and local community members are invited to enjoy candy, games, and fun in a safe and welcoming environment. Costumes are encouraged! 👻

Nursing Chair and Program Director Dr. Nassrine Noureddine was appointed to serve on the Nursing Education and Workforce Advisory Committee (NEWAC) of the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN). After 35 years in , she remains committed to the profession and to advocating for the next generation of nurses.

students joined the Modesto Children's Garden to lead a cooking demonstration and provide nutrition education to 3rd-grade students from Franklin Elementary. The 3rd graders had a lot of fun learning, making, and tasting their very own nutrient-packed kale, pumpkin, and pomegranate salad! 🥗

Thank you to the garden's founder and University of the Pacific Board of Regents member, Jessica Coleman ’99, for giving our students this opportunity to learn and give back to the local community.

October is National Physical Therapy Month, a time to honor physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, and students, while raising public awareness about the benefits of physical therapy. PTs play a vital role in helping patients improve movement, recover from injury or surgery, and achieve overall wellness and independence throughout their lifespan. Happy ! 💪

This weekend, Dr. Jeannene Ward-Lonergan, Associate Dean of Academic Affairs for the School of Health Sciences, received a Faculty Mentor Award! Every Homecoming, the Pacific Alumni Association honors four exceptional faculty with this award, celebrating their lasting impact through guidance and mentorship.

Dr. Ward-Lonergan has served University of the Pacific for 27 years as a teacher, clinician, administrator, and mentor. As the longest-serving faculty member in the Department, she led the formation of the Language-Literacy Center on the Stockton Campus, which has provided reading instruction to hundreds of Central Valley children and expanded Pacific students’ access to clinical experience.

Thank you for your commitment to our students, and congratulations, Dr. Ward-Lonergan! 🎉

This year, University of the Pacific celebrates 20 years of learning and community through the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI). Established in 2006, has offered noncredit learning opportunities primarily for adults 50 and older. Its programming now includes lectures, courses, shared-interest groups, arts and culture, outdoor activities, travel, and health and wellness, among others.

Every year, Physical Therapy at University of the Pacific provides free, personalized balance and fall-risk assessments and education to OLLI members at its annual Summer Balance Clinic. Led by Dr. Preeti Oza, DPT, students provide one-on-one, customized screenings and guided activities tailored to each participant's needs, helping them leave the clinic feeling more confident in their mobility.
