University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law is a private, ABA-accredited law school in the Oak Park neighborhood of the city of Sacramento, California. Originally founded in 1924, the school merged with and became part of the University of the Pacific in 1966. The University also runs the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco, California. The current dean of Pacific McGeorge School of Law is Michael Hunter Schwartz.

The 2026 incoming class at McGeorge School of Law welcomed 308 students, including 20 students enrolled in the Master of Laws (LLM) program and three students in the Doctor of Juridical Science (JSD) program.

The students in the LLM and JSD programs hail from 15 countries, including Afghanistan, Austria, Brazil, India, Iran, Italy, Kenya, Pakistan, Tunisia, Türkiye, Uganda, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, the United States and Uzbekistan.

Future lawyers and health professionals working together! 🥼🤝🧑‍⚖️

Last week's Elder Health & Law Interprofessional Education (IPE) activity allowed students from Pacific’s McGeorge School of Law Elder and Health Law Clinic, Pacific’s School of Health Sciences and UC Davis School of Medicine to look beyond their individual professions, gaining a shared understanding of holistic end-of-life planning and patient advocacy.

Growing up in a tight-knit Black family in 1960s Topeka, Jeffery Benson ‘26 learned early about love, community, and the painful realities of inequality. Moments of exclusion, like being told to use the back door of a diner, sparked a lifelong determination to challenge unjust systems.

Today, that determination has led him to McGeorge School of Law, where he’s transforming lived experience into legal advocacy.

Tong is the former California Secretary of Government Operations and a special advisor on Artificial Intelligence to Gov. Gavin Newsom.
