Demographics within colleges and universities across the nation, state, and our local regions are quickly changing. Latinxs are now, for the first time in history, the largest minority group among the nation’s students enrolled in universities, at 19% of all college students ages 18-24. At Sacramento State:
• Latinx enrollment for first-time-freshmen has seen a 369% increase in less than two decad
es, from 262 in 1994 to 967 in 2013.
• Latinxs are the largest minority constituting 25% of the total undergraduate student population, making Sacramento State a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI). As the Latinx student population at Sacramento State grows, so too does the need for resources that encourage access and graduation for this student population. The Latinx Alumni Chapter and its members aim to serve as a hub of motivation for Latino students and the greater Sacramento community to establish connections for success! Become an agent of change! By becoming a member of the Latinx Alumni Chapter, you will have the opportunity to establish professional networks with alumni, develop mentorship programs for current and future Latino students, and garner financial resources to assist current students in attaining their academic goals!
