SVSU's Soccer Community Youth Day is this SATURDAY (March 22nd) from 12:00pm-1:00pm.

We are also having our Meijer Bike Giveaway! We will be giving away two kids bike's (one boys, one girls).

Our camp will take place in the Ryder Center Fieldhouse. For your convenience, please park in Lot E, and enter through the first floor Fieldhouse doors.

The Science and Mathematics Extravaganza for Kids (SMEKplus) summer camps involve area students, in engaging, age-appropriate science, technology, engineering and mathematics enrichment activities. Students participating in this 3-day camp will experience hands-on, project-based lessons taught by area certified teachers and assisted by SVSU undergraduates aspiring to become teachers, as well as enjoy lunch in the Marketplace at Doan.

Registration deadline is June 7, 2025, but seats are limited for each camp, so register early!

Early Bird Registration through March 31, 2025, save $5! Regular prices of $150 resume April 1, 2025.

SATURDAY SHOUTOUT - Six students from SVSU’s moot court program, ranked No. 9 in the nation, traveled to the University of Houston Law Center for the American Moot Court Association’s preliminary rounds of the national tournament (PRONT) January 10-11. By the end of the tournament, one SVSU team had advanced to the final round of the national tournament, which will be held at Texas Tech University School of Law on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 14 and 15. Congratulations to Nikolas Baker, a political science major from Standish, and Diva Patel, a biology and political science major from Kawkawlin, and to all our Cardinals who qualified to complete (see link below for full details).

The Class of 2024 has since graduated, but here are some photos of them showing off their lab skills!

Did you know that Medical Laboratory Scientists:

*Can determine microbe characteristics or even identity just from colony morphology on a petri dish?

*Are often the first healthcare employees to know the type of blood cancer a patient has just by looking at their cells under a microscope?

*Often have to pipette samples accurately and precisely down to a 1000th of a milliliter?

*Have to perform special validation tests to ensure every single analyzer is performing accurately... at low, middle, and high values..... on EVERY single analyzer... for EVERY single test.... TWICE a year?

Director Alvey presented a Urinalysis case study session at the annual American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science - Michigan Chapter Conference last week in Mount Pleasant. Students and professionals were able to wear their detective hats to solve common (and some rare) mysteries of the yellow body fluid!

Last week, 10 senior MLS students attended the American Society for Clinical Labor Science - Michigan Chapter Annual Conference, largely funded by the SVSU Foundation Grant! Every year seniors raise funds to attend the conference. This year was held at Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort. It was an excellent opportunity full of networking, engaging with vendors in the field, and learning about advancements in the field of clinical laboratory science.
