Please join us in congratulating Dr. Matthew J. Fox on earning his Ph.D. in Higher Education from Ohio University's Patton College of Education!

Dr. Fox serves as Associate Professor of Nursing and Associate Director of Nursing at Ohio University Eastern. As part of his doctoral studies, he completed a dissertation examining the experiences of male students in prelicensure nursing education programs.

Through qualitative inquiry, his research explored the factors that influence men to pursue nursing, the challenges and supports they encounter during their education, and how social and role stereotypes impact career decisions. The findings provide valuable insights for nursing educators and academic institutions seeking to enhance student success, strengthen retention efforts and foster inclusive learning environments within the nursing profession.

Please join us in welcoming Sophie Bland, a recent graduate of Harrison Central High School, to the Bobcat family!

Sophie recently visited campus for her first advising appointment and finalized her fall schedule, officially beginning her journey at OHIO Eastern.

This fall, she will start pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree as she works toward a career focused on making a difference in the lives of others through compassionate patient care.

We are excited to have Sophie join our campus community and look forward to watching her achieve her goals as an OHIO Eastern Bobcat! 🐾💚

Alexis stopped by campus today to schedule fall classes with an OHIO Success Advisor. She is now ready to begin her Bobcat journey toward a Biological Sciences - Wildlife and Conservation Biology degree by utilizing our Biology Pathway program at OHIO Eastern.

Please join us in congratulating 2026 OHIO Eastern Social Work graduate Kearsten Bethel on her new role as Community Education Coordinator with Harmony House.

In her new position, Kearsten will help educate youth and adults across Ohio and West Virginia on topics including body safety, bullying prevention, adverse childhood experiences and mandatory reporting.

Stories like Kearsten's highlight the impact OHIO Eastern graduates have throughout our communities and the important role social workers play in education, advocacy and prevention efforts.

Congratulations, Kearsten! We wish you continued success as you begin this important work serving our region. 💚

Harmony House would like to welcome our newest staff member! Kearsten Bethel is a 2026 graduate from Ohio University Eastern with a bachelor's degree in Social Work. Kearsten will join us as our new Community Education Coordinator and will be working to teach the youth of both Ohio and West Virginia about body safety and autonomy, bullying, adverse childhood experiences, as well as making the adults of our community better equipped for mandatory reporting. Our community education program saw nearly 11,000 individuals this past year. We are anxious for Kearsten to get acquainted with all of our curriculums and meet the community. WELCOME!!!
