Meet Katelyn Radmall, RDH, St George, Utah.
An ADHA member for almost three years, Katelyn was inspired to join when her dental hygiene instructors talked about how awesome it is and the importance of advocacy.
For Katelyn, the best part of being a professional dental hygienist is making a difference in the lives of her patients while educating them about their oral health.
One patient in particular loved to snack at night after she brushed her teeth. Katelyn explained the increased risk of caries and helped to set a goal for her to stop snacking after brushing . On her patient’s next visit she was so excited to tell Katelyn that she stuck to the goal they had set. Not only were her teeth happier but she also lost some weight! The experience proved that even a small lifestyle change can make a big difference in a patient’s health and happiness.
After a year in practice, Katelyn defines success as helping her patients set oral health goals and then striving to accomplish them, together. Changing habits isn't easy. When Katelyn offers support and sees the difference it makes, she feels successful.
The best advice she has received is to find something you enjoy and work in an environment that makes you happy. If it doesn’t, it’s up to you to change it!
Thank you, Katelyn. Your patients and your fellow hygienists are lucky to have your support!
