This came through our department today and wanted to pass it along:

Hello from Teachers On Call!

I hope your fall is going well! I wanted to check-in to provide an update on our opportunities for employment in the Saint Paul School District. The district’s plan is to return to school in a hybrid module, and we anticipate a very high need. The minimum requirements in Saint Paul School District is a High School Diploma or GED plus 60+ college credits or completion of the ParaPro exam to be a Paraprofessional. To be a Substitute Teacher, the requirements are, Bachelor’s Degree AND MN Teaching or Substitute License OR willingness to obtain Short-Call License with TOC’s guidance. Find out more here: https://mn.gov/pelsb/

I have also pasted a flyer below to distribute directly via email or post to social media. If there are any upcoming virtual career fair opportunities or other opportunities to connect with students or the community that we should be aware of, please let me know. Feel free to contact me with any questions. Thank you for considering or passing this information along to those who may be interested in making a difference in their local schools. Have a great day!

We received word from Rachel (Mac '16) and thought to share!

Paid Opportunities with Breakthrough Twin Cities: We are actively recruiting our next cohort of outstanding college students to be School-Year Coaches for our Middle and High School students! Each year, we work with Macalester to identify students who are motivated about education and equity to work with students in the Twin Cities and support them on their journeys to college. We've always worked with incredible Mac students and would love to work with more during the school year.

We are excited given that this sort of opportunity is particularly well-suited for college students--paid, flexible hours along with opportunities to build their youth mentorship and job-readiness skills.

Tina Kruse, author of Making Change, told us about what an important year it was in her field:

"As always, most of the wonderful things that happened within Youth Social Entrepreneurship this year were caused by the young people themselves, making real change in their communities. Additionally, though, 2018 included a major event to advance the field. The United Nations’ Department of Economic and Social Affairs hosted an expert group meeting to help advocate for youth social entrepreneurship around the world. I was proud to contribute to this effort and can’t wait for the new year when we share a report about inspiring young change-makers to a global audience."
