This ethnographic field school takes entrepreneurship as a lens for understanding how low-income people of color and immigrant....

A memorial service will take place for Becca Lavin-Burgher in Chicago tomorrow--please spread the word to any Eckerd folks you know in Chicagoland:

The celebration of Becca’s life will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, May 30, 2018, from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Waldorf School, 1300 W. Loyola Ave., Chicago, IL, 60626. Becca came to Eckerd from Chicago where she graduated from the Chicago Waldorf School. While at Eckerd, she surrounded herself with a large and loving community of friends. She is remembered as a travel enthusiast, a budding photographer, a dog lover, the first female DJ among the performers at the College’s South Beach Field, and a generous spirit.

Please mark your calendar for Dr. Michael Kimmel's talk on Wednesday, Feb. 7th at 7pm in the Miller Auditorium. Kimmel is an internationally renowned sociologist and masculinities scholar. His talk is entitled, "Angry White Men: Gender, Race, and Class on the Extreme Right." The talk examines the disturbing ways that masculinity is used to recruit members of neo-Nazi and white supremacist groups and to express racist politics. A Q&A session will follow.

Now's the time to start thinking about summer jobs and internships, if you haven't already. Head over to career services and check out the opportunities available.

Also: Be wary of organizations that put a lot of effort into recruiting. I get lots of emails from places that want me to promote their jobs to you. And a lot of them, like http://readingprograms.org/ have a reputation for treating workers poorly, underpaying them, and just generally exploiting them, preying on college students' idealism and desire for a job.
