Juneteenth is a time to reflect, remember, and recognize both the history and the ongoing journey toward freedom and equity.

Today, we honor June 19, 1865: the day freedom reached the last enslaved Black Americans in Galveston, Texas. We acknowledge the legacy, resilience, and contributions of Black communities past and present.

At Salem State, we join in remembrance, learning, and continued commitment to justice and inclusion.
