The College offers the first and second year of a college program and awards the associate of arts/sciences degrees and certificates of proficiency. The college also provides vocational training, Work Force and Community Development classes, Contract Education and numerous cultural and recreational activities. The computer center is available to students for class and assignment use and provides a

ccess to the Internet and the World Wide Web. The College has transfer agreements with many California State University (CSU) and University of California (UC) campuses which guarantee admission for Hartnell students who have completed the two year requirements. Hartnell is sensitive to its diverse community and offers modified format courses to meet the needs of students who work or have other outside commitments. Modified format courses include those that began after the regular semester, at the lunch hour, prior to 8 a.m., or are offered in a condensed format. Hartnell provides off-campus courses at numerous locations in north and south Monterey County.

Panther Football returns to Bill Elliott Field for the first time in years! Join us this Saturday, Sept. 5 at 1 PM as Hartnell takes on Chabot College AT HOME. The first 100 fans get a free Hartnell Athletics tee, so come early, wear your maroon & gold, and let’s fill the stands!

This September, the Hartnell College Art Gallery presents Order and Chaos, pairing drawings by David Ligare with ceramic sculpture by Gary Smith, retired Hartnell College professor of ceramics and former gallery director.

Ligare's drawings started as quick marks he made in the wet sand of Big Sur that later turned into detailed works on paper. Smith's ceramic sculptures use precise geometric shapes that can be rearranged in different ways.

Both artists will be at the opening reception, Thursday, Sept. 10, from 4 to 6 PM at Hartnell College Art Gallery, Room J109 at the main campus. The reception is free and open to the public, with complimentary tacos and beverages for guests 21 and older.

These past two days, we had the honor of welcoming faculty and staff back on campus for our Fall 2026 Student Success Conference. Both days were dedicated to professional development and preparing for the semester ahead.

A huge thank you to Dr. Russell Lowery-Hart, Chancellor of Austin Community College District, for joining us and sharing his powerful mantra: "Loving Our Students to Success."

All Hartnell Community College District locations will be closed Friday, August 21, 2026 for a Professional Development Day.

The District will be open and provide services on Saturday, August 22, 2026 from 9:00 am to 1:00pm and operations will resume as normal on Monday, August 24, 2026.
