SU junior Sarah Kyle and co-founder Kevin Kyle took home the $15,000 top prize at SU's annual Bernstein Business Plan Competition for Spotter, an AI-powered app that uses real-time form analysis to reduce injury risk during weightlifting. The funding will go toward continued AI development, pilot testing, and launch.

Dr. Sean Cooper, senior lecturer of Japanese at SU, has been selected for the Japan Foundation's 2026 Special Training Program for Non-Native Teachers of Japanese.

Fewer than 15 educators across the U.S. were chosen for the 25-day intensive program in Urawa, Japan, a recognition that will also benefit SU students through a stronger Japanese language program and exchange opportunities with Aoyama Gakuin University in Tokyo.
