🧪✨ Catawba Chemistry showed up, showed out, and had an AMAZING time at NOBCChE 2026! 💙💛

From professional connections and career inspiration to learning, laughter, and making memories, our students embraced every opportunity to connect, engage, and expand their professional networks, while also representing Catawba and connecting with the broader chemistry community through outreach. 🌎🧪

We’re proud to represent Catawba College and our chemistry community!

🌿 A Capital Botany Trip! 🌿

Last week, our Catawba College Ethnobotany class took the classroom to Washington, D.C., exploring the connections between plants, people, and culture at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History and the U.S. Botanic Garden. Many thanks - to USBG Executive Director Dr. Susan Pell and NMNH Curator Dr. Ken Wurdack and Dr. Krupnick of the NMNH Plant Conservation Unit for facilitating our class visit and tours.

A great day of botany, culture, history, and experiential learning in the nation’s capital! 🌱🏛️

Today Catawba College is kicking off our Day of Giving. Please see link below to make a contribution to the Natural Sciences (Biology, Chemistry and Biochemistry, and Environment and Sustainability). Your gifts to the Natural Sciences help us support high impact student research and travel.

As I write this post, our BIOL 3512 Ethnobotany class is riding the 6:17am (!) Amtrak train from the Salisbury Depot, to Union Station in Washington DC, where this amazing group of students will have a behind the scenes tour at the Department of Botany at the Smithsonian Institution - National Museum of Natural History and a specialized tour the of United States Botanical Garden. These are the types of experiences at Catawba College that your giving can support. Thank you for considering making a donation today.
