Livingstone College is deeply saddened to confirm the death of a student on campus at approximately 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5, 2026.

The student had been receiving treatment for a medical condition and, despite efforts to provide care, passed away.

At this time, there is no evidence of foul play. Out of an abundance of caution and in keeping with appropriate institutional protocols, Livingstone College has contacted the Salisbury Police Department to support the review of the circumstances surrounding the student’s death.

The College is working to support the student’s loved ones and members of our campus community who have been affected by this loss. Counseling and support resources are being made available to students, faculty and staff.

We ask that the privacy of the entire Livingstone College campus community be respected during this difficult time. Additional information will be shared only as appropriate and when it has been confirmed.

Livingstone College extends its deepest condolences to the student’s loved ones, friends, and all members of our Blue Bear community who are grieving this loss. A prayer vigil will be hosted for students, faculty and staff. More information will be shared with our campus community via official institutional channels.
